Fall Practice, Starting August 7th

Good Morning, Parents and Guardians:

As we continue to approach August 7th, please be sure to take care of registering your son for football on PowerSchool and turn in a sports physical to school ASAP. All of this NEEDS to be completed prior to August 7th.

Practice for the first week will run from 7:00-11:00 AM. Your sons should wear their blue camp shorts each day, have gym shoes, and bring a water bottle and snack everyday. Once practice starts August 7th, commitment from your sons will be demanded out of the coaching staff and is expected. Below is a general practice schedule. We will switch the focus from offense to defense each day.

7:00 – Classroom/Film session
7:30 – Transition to field for practice
7:40 – Active Warm up
7:50 – Specialists (Kickers, Punters, Long Snappers)
8:00 – Special Teams
8:15 – Water
8:20 – Offensive Individual Position Work
8:35 – Offensive Group (Run or Pass Focus)
8:55 – Water
9:00 – Offensive Team with Punt
9:20 – Defensive Team
9:35 – Water
10:00 – Miscellaneous Time (Conditioning, Weight Room, Team Building)
11:00 – Conclude Practice

I speak for all the coaches when I say that we are excited to start practice. Can’t wait for August 7th!

Good Morning, Parents and Guardians:

Just wanted to remind you that your son must be registered and have a valid sports physical turned into school prior to August 7th. August 7th is the first day of fall practice. Registration can be completed online. I have attached directions to complete the process. All sports physicals can be turned in to Betty Aguirre, the athletic secretary, or Tim Carlson, the Assistant Principal of Athletics. Payment can be completed online as well. Varsity Info

Varsity Parents/Guardians:

Few Things:

1. There has been a small change to practice schedule for the first week of fall practice. Practice will be from 7-11AM. I’ve added an extra hour to practice for various team meetings and team building opportunities.

2. If any parent would like to spearhead or take the lead on the parents’ committee please let me know. It is not as intensive as one may think. Plus, the boys really enjoy all the “extras” they have received in the past. Please let me know if you or a few of you are interested in taking the lead.

3. I am looking for some parents to organize team meals this season. The last few years we have had one mom spear heading it and several other parents helping as much as possible. We’ve had this tradition for the last 8 years. The varsity team eats a team pasta dinner on Friday after school at 3 PM. It’s a great opportunity for the boys to relax and enjoy each others company. I would like to keep this tradition moving forward. Much of the food was donated by local restaurants. If you have any interest in doing this please contact me ASAP.

3. Varsity Hallway decorations – Instead of decorating the locker room this season, I would like the hallway leading out to the tunnel the boys will walk through decorated with motivating images and phrases and GBS colors plastered on the walls. This year we have four home games. If you have any interest in doing this please contact me ASAP.

August

Hello Everyone:

As we wind down this week with summer camp and approach August, I want to share some important info and dates with you. Please see below:

1. Physicals – All Athletes must have a valid physical turned into the athletic office prior to August 7th. I have received about 20 physicals.
2. Registration for Athletics – All athletes must be registered for football PRIOR to August 7th. You can register your son for all the sports he will be doing this school year at this time. This must be complete online via PowerSchool. Please see the attachment for more information. (SEE ATTACHMENT)
3. Payment – The activity fee, which will cover all sports and activities for the school year, is $150. That payment will be made when you register for sports on PowerSchool. If payment is an issue OR you need to set up a payment plan please contact Mrs. Mazza, the student services secretary, at 630-469-6500 or maria_mazza@glenbard.org. (SEE ATTACHMENT)
4. Fall Sports Meeting – August 15th is the mandatory fall sports meeting. The meeting will be held in the Auditorium at 6 PM. All parents/guardians AND athletes are required to attend. We may or may not have a short program meeting following the large meeting. (SEE ATTACHMENT)
5. There will be no equipment distribution on August 4th. All necessary equipment that needs to distributed will be done so during the first week of fall practice.

Practice starts August 7th at 7 AM. We want to hit the ground sprinting. Please do your part by completing the necessary steps mentioned above. Once we get to August 7th, the intensity and rigor of practices will pick up. Attendance is the most essential component to be a player in this program. Attendance will be tracked, and if your son is late or not at practice, it will impacts their playing time and the success of the team. Please discuss this with them, but put the responsibility of waking up in a timely fashion on them. “To be early is to be on time. To be on time is to be late.” The boys should bring the “usual” to practice during the week of August 7-11. In addition to that, they should pack a small lunch or snack. They will be given breaks during practice.

I will send out more info the closer we get to August 7th.
