Important Football Information

Good Morning, Parents and Guardians:

I know the end of the school year is crazy for all of us. That is why I wanted to send you some reminders for summer camp and other important dates ahead of us, in regards to football. I have attached a copy of the 2018 Football Calendar (dates and times are subject to change). Some parents have asked about the conflict of students taking summer school or bridge classes, and how that will impact football. Those classes do not start until 8:30 AM. Those students enrolled in summer school or bridge classes will be released from football camp at 8:10 AM to clean up and get to class. The goal is to complete most of the on-the-field work prior to them leaving for classes.

Summer camp registration for all incoming freshmen through current juniors is open. Registration can take place online (see below) or in person at the Glen Ellyn Park District – Spring Avenue location. All student athletes must be registered for camp in order to be issued a helmet, shoulder pads, practice jerseys, and practice uniform. All football equipment and gear will be distributed during finals week (May 29-June 1) to current Freshmen through juniors. Incoming Freshmen will receive their gear on the first day of camp.

Summer camp is critical for the development of the student-athletes’ skills and learning the schemes that we will use during the regular season. Attendance to summer camp is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I do not want tuition costs to be an issue. Please email me or call me for information on potential scholarships or financial assistance.

Important dates:

Summer camp for all levels will run June 12-29 and July 10-20, Monday-Thursdays, 6:30-9:30 AM
All Physicals are due, turn into level head coach – June 22nd
Registration for Football must be completed ONLINE ON POWERSCHOOL by July 20th.

Upcoming Passing Camp

Parents:

Several weeks ago, I put out an email and a flyer about a Glen Ellyn Park District Passing Camp that will be held at Glenbard South this month and next. Unfortunately, the GBS athletes will cannot attend the camp because that would be violating an IHSA rule for off season sport-specific training. I do not want to jeopardize any student’s eligibility. However, if you have a son or daughter that is in grades 5-8, who plays football, or is interested in working on offensive skill player drills and technique, they can attend.

If you did sign up your son for the camp please contact the Glen Ellyn Park District and ask for reimbursement. I will be contacting them immediately regarding the situation. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Volunteer Opportunity!

Good Morning, Parents and Guardians:

As many of you know, the coaching staff and I feel it’s vital that our student-athletes partake in service projects and volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. The actions of giving back to those less fortunate is a priority that I believe should be instilled in the young men. With that being said, junior, Adam Haushahn, has organized a volunteer opportunity at Feed My Starving Children on MONDAY, APRIL 17TH, FROM 8:00-9:30 PM at their Aurora location. We have 40 spots available. I will strongly encourage the boys attend. I will be giving the boys 500 off season points for attending. That is a large amount of points. Also, we will need 5 adults to help supervise the event. I will be attending along with Mr. and Mrs. Haushahn. We will need 1 adult supervisor for every 10 students who attend. Please let me know if you would like to attend. I would greatly appreciate if you encouraged your sons to attend the event. In regards to transportation, I will reserve 1 mini-bus to drive, but those buses only hold 14 students. Other than that, students will need to arrange transportation.

Thank you for your help on this,

Football Reminders

Hello Parents:

With spring break approaching it means that football activities and events will be starting up shortly. I have attached two documents to this email. One of the attachments is about the passing camp that is being hosted at South. The Glen Ellyn Park District has asked us to host this camp. It is a great opportunity for all of the GBS student-athletes, and any athlete in grades 5-12, who play, or would like to play, QB, WR, TE, or FB/RB to refine their skills prior to summer camp starting. The cost is $50 and registration must be completed through the Glen Ellyn Park District. Please see the attachment for more details.

The second document is the TENTATIVE FOOTBALL CALENDAR 2017 GBS Football Calendar (Tentative). With summer approaching and vacation season on the horizon, please be mindful of the football camp dates and events. I would greatly appreciate that you schedule any trips or vacations on the dates labeled “No football activity”. Having your sons in attendance during summer camp is vital. The summer is used for player development, offensive and defensive scheme installation, and most importantly, team building. Please see the attached tentative calendar.

Thank you and have a good spring break,
