Draft Night & College Football Celebration

Parents and Guardians:

Draft Night
This Thursday (2/23/17) at 7 PM in the LRC, we will be hosting our 4th annual draft night. Each player that has “declared” for the draft will find out which team they were drafted to. Info on how players and teams will earn and lose points will be presented. Parents are welcome to attend the event. This is a fun night for the boys.

College Football Celebration
Seniors Nick Puleo, Josh Zawislak, Vince Marra, Sean Cooke, and Talha Ayhan have decided to continue their athletic careers into college. I am excited for what lies ahead for them, academically and athletically. We will be having a celebration in their honor. The event will take place on TUESDAY, 2/28, at 2:50 PM in room 308. Cake will be provided.

We hope to see you at these events.

Draft Night Rescheduled

Hello Parents:

I am changing the date of the Football Draft to Thursday, February 23.  Start time will be 7 PM in the commons.  The change is due to scheduling issues with lots of juniors who have ACT prep classes and wrestlers attending the state wrestling meet that need the rest.

See you Thursday, February 23 @ 7 PM.

GO RAIDERS!

Training & Draft

Good Afternoon, Parents and Guardians:

Strength and Speed Training

As I have eluded to earlier this week via Remind Messages, attendance for off season workouts have been atrocious. Once wrestling and basketball is over I expect all student-athletes who are playing football next fall to be strength training. For some, this will take place during there Advanced Strength Training class. For others, of which a majority are freshmen and sophomores, will need to strength train before school from 6:15-7:00 OR after school from 2:50-3:45. Student-athletes participating in a spring sport should workout before school twice a week. I will modify workouts for those participating in a sport so it does not negatively impact them. Strength workouts will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Speed and plyometric training will occur on Tuesday mornings in the field house from 6:15-7:00 AM. Having your son strength training on their own outside of school and not at South is unacceptable. I want the boys to workout with their teammates and coaches. Boys that do not attend workouts will lose off season points (Off Season points will be explained later).
Raiders Football League Draft Party

On February 15 at 7:30 PM in the commons. Student-athletes were to declare for the draft a few weeks back. The student-athletes will be drafted to teams in which they will earn or lose points based off of multiple factors. Please do all that you can to attend. It is a fun evening for the program.

Thank you,
