Off Season Workouts

Parents and Guardians:

If your son is not in advanced weights and not in a sport this semester they must workout before school. 6:15 AM, Monday-Thursday. We will meet in the field house.

I have send messages to the boys through hudl. Please remind them. Attending off season workouts will count for or against them towards earning points.

Strength Workouts

Good Evening Parents:

Starting next week, we will begin our off season workouts for the second semester for all players who are NOT IN ADVANCED WEIGHTS and NOT IN A WINTER SPORT. Strength workouts will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday before school at 6:15 or after school at 2:45. Your son must select a time to attend. Speed workouts will take place on Tuesday mornings ONLY. Your sons will be facing an uphill battle this summer if they do not prepare now for the season. We will prepare like champions in the off season. Help me set the tone, and push your sons to improve physically and mentally.

I STRONGLY recommend that your sons tryout for or participate in a spring sport. There is NOTHING better than having your son stay in a competitive environment all year. I want multi-sport athletes in the football program who embrace training year-round. Track starts this week, this is a no-cut sport. Baseball open gyms and tryouts will begin in February. Gymnastics and tennis start in the coming weeks as well.

Lastly, I will be sending out an email this week regarding our off season team draft night. Tentatively, it is scheduled to take place at South at 7:30 PM. I will keep everyone posted.

Have a good week,

2017 Football Summer Camp (tentative schedule)

Hello Parents:

Attached to this email is the Football Calendar for 2017. All of the dates and time are tentative with the exception being Summer Camp days, most in season practices, and all the games. If there are ever changes or corrections to the calendar I will send out a new version.

During Summer Camp, sophomores and varsity skill players (QBs, WRs, TEs, RBs, LBs, DBs) will participate in several 7on7 events. The morning 7on7s will end around 10-11 AM. The evening 7on7s, which will be varsity only, will have various start times. I will keep you all posted on those events.

Summer Camp is VITAL to the development of the players’ skills and the evaluation process of the student-athletes. Please make every effort to schedule vacations around the summer camp dates and events. I know that I ask a lot of the players and the families, but it is a necessity to have each player at camp on a daily basis. I appreciate the sacrifices you make for your sons and the football program.

Thank you and Go Raiders!

Hudl Fundraiser

Good Afternoon, Parents:

This week, we will be starting our 3rd annual Off Season Fundraiser. The fundraiser, also known as a Hudl Campaign, will start this Thursday and last for three weeks. For this fundraiser, the boys will be sending out emails to family members, family friends, neighbors, etc. The email will provide each recipient a link to our Hudl Fundraiser page. From there, the viewer of the fundraiser page can donate any amount they like. I have told the boys to come up with a list of at least 10-20 email addresses and bring that list back to school THIS THURSDAY. The boys will enter the emails into their hudl account and an email blast will be sent out to the recipients.

Each season it is my goal to update and upgrade all the equipment the boys will use on a daily basis, specifically, all the safety equipment (helmets and shoulder pads) they wear and block/tackling equipment. Your son’s safety is at the forefront for me and my coaching staff. Also, we are looking to purchase new varsity white uniforms. The current uniforms we have are six years old and need to be replaced.

Any support and effort you are willing to put forth would be wonderful and greatly appreciated.
Here is a link to the Hudl Campaign page: http://donate.hudl.com/19inM7.

Please feel free to forward the Hudl Campaign page onto anyone that your would like.

Again, thank you for your help,

Advanced Strength Training

Hello Parents:

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Holiday.

This week, Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are meeting with counselors to discuss course picks for next school year. I strongly advise that all student-athletes, especially the football players, enroll in ADVANCED STRENGTH TRAINING for each semester, if possible. The Advanced Strength Training course is taught and designed by Coach Kichka. Coach Kichka had done an incredible job designing a program that deeply benefits our student-athletes. The kids will strength train three to four days per week, with fitness testing and other physical training on the open days during the week. I can tell you through observation of current advanced weights classes that kids are making incredible gains. It really has transformed many of the athletes bodies. The gains that have been made are substantial. Strength training is a necessity for to improve athletic development and injury prevention.

Advanced Strength Training runs twice during the school day now. The goal is to have more classes available next school year. The benefits are amazing. Plus, they can strength train during the school day and not at 6 AM or 3 PM during the school year. Again, please have your son sign up for ADVANCED STRENGTH TRAINING for next school year. The course is only available to students during their sophomore, junior, and senior year. So, current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are eligible for the class.

If you have any specific questions about the course, please direct those questions to Mr. Kichka.

Thank you!
